Update on COVID-19 in Costa Rica

Costa Rica has been reopening its borders since August 1st. Now, international travelers from most countries can enter the country.
Starting October 26th, the Costa Rican government will stop requesting a negative test for international tourists to visit Costa Rica.

We want to keep you updated on the numbers and status of the COVID-19 spread in Costa Rica in case you’re planning a trip here and a visit to the Punta Islita Wild Macaw Reserve.

Our visitor center remains closed to the public but we’re expecting a reopening in mid-November. We’ve been taking all needful safety measures to ensure that our team and visitors are not exposed to any unnecessary risks.

These are the numbers so far:

Confirmed cases: 157,472 (of which 25,571 have been diagnosed by epidemiologic nexus)
Active cases: 29,988 (age range: 0 – 100 years)
Recovered cases: 125,488 (age ranges: 0 – 100 years)
Deceased: 1996 (age ranges: 9 – 101 years)
