Take a tour through a dry tropical jungle on the Pacific slopes of Costa Rica’s gorgeous Nicoya Peninsula, just minutes from the beautiful Playa Islita.
The Macaw Recovery Network ’s mission is to recover endangered neotropical parrot populations by leading a network that develops and implements best practices in conservation. By visiting us, you’ll gain firsthand experience of this restoration work and 100% of your donations are used to support this mission.

Please note: Only the Scarlet Macaw Reserve is open to the public, guests will not be allowed to see the breeding center.
Regular visits – 1 hour long, at 7.30am (High Season) or 4pm (Year Round)- $20 pp Visitors are welcomed with a short slideshow about Macaw Recovery Network ’s conservation efforts. A tour guide will take you to watch our released wild flock of Scarlet Macaws as they fly in from the surrounding area for their morning or afternoon snack. Your contribution will further support our conservation efforts.
Photography morning – 7am till 8.30am (High Season)- $50 pp
Spend the morning observing and photographing our stunning released Scarlet Macaws flying free at our Wild Macaw Reserve. You’ll have the opportunity to photograph Macaws demonstrating natural behaviours in the wild whilst enjoying a Costa Rican cup of coffee. Your contribution will further support our conservation efforts.
